Paris - the city
of lights!
Famous for its beauty, grandeur, food, art, and architecture. The city is divided into 20 official districts or arrondissements
(ème). The choicest of these are the 1st to 8th, near the river Seine in the heart of the
city. Click here
for some useful information for visitors to the city.
1st, 2nd & 3rd Arrondissement -
The 1ère is the geographical center of Paris and a haven for tourists. The Louvre, Les Halles,
Palais Royal, Centre Beaubourg-Georges Pompidou and its famous Museum of Modern
Art are all here. The 3ère (and 4ère) are referred to as 'Le Marais', the old Jewish quarter that was home of the French aristocracy in the 17th century and has now become a trendy area with refurbished
'hôtels particuliers', designer boutiques, hip bars and restaurants.
4th Arrondissement - Known as
the 'Island' , the 4ère is home to the Place des Vosges, Notre-Dame and Paris’ historic heart: Ile Saint-Louis and Ile de la Cité.
The center of the Marais, this is a lively neighborhood with a strong alternative lifestyle scene as well as lots of trendy bars, shops, and restaurants.
5th Arrondissement - The 5ère is referred to as the 'Quartier Latin', the student district which is home to the Sorbonne and Panthéon and is associated with the intellectual life of Paris.
The neighborhood has the feel of a small village and students mix freely with professionals in its winding streets. The rue Mouffetard is a primary artery where shops, international restaurants and student bars and cafés are found.
6th Arrondissement - The
6ère stretches from the banks of the Seine to Montparnasse and is referred to as 'Saint-Germain des Prés', home to the Luxembourg Palace and gardens, and to artists and intellectuals in the early 20th century. Today, it is a center of intellect,
upscale art, antiques, bookshops and
boutiques, and the most popular area for American tourists to visit.
The most popular area for our clients to stay in.
7th Arrondissement
- An exclusive residential district with 'hôtels particuliers' and is home to the Musée d’Orsay, the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower to the east.
Many local Parisians consider this the most desirable area in the city.
8th, 9th Arrondissement - The
8ère stretches from the Place de la Concorde through the Champs-Elysées to the Arc de Triomphe, and is home to the Elysées Palace, the Madeleine church and the fashion houses of Avenue Montaigne and Faubourg
Saint-Honoré. Lots of tourists make up this upscale neighborhood.
Pigalle (the fading Red Light district) and the Moulin Rouge can be found
in the 9ère . A diverse residential area popular among artistic crowd.
10th, 11th, 12th Arrondissement
- The 10ème includes two great train stations in Paris, the Gare de l'Est and the Gare du Nord. This multi-cultural neighborhood also contains a bohemian element.
The Bastille is located in the 11ème. This is a primarily residential
district but includes many trendy bars, cafes and restaurants. The 12ème
is a pleasant residential neighborhood bordered on the east by the Bois de Vincennes (a nice park).
13th, 14th, 15th Arrondissement - The 13ème is a
primarily residential neighborhood, as well as Paris' Chinatown. Montparnasse and the Cité Universitaire are found in
